Seoul to Bangkok is five and a half hours. Bangkok is often the destination in its own right — wellness and dining anchor most trips — and the advantage here is setting both departure and return around your stay. If a southern Thai resort is the destination, skipping Bangkok is faster.
Airports and ground access
Bangkok has two airports: Suvarnabhumi, the main gateway to the east of the city, and Don Mueang, the older field to the north. Neither is dramatically closer to the centre, but they approach from opposite sides, so which one suits depends on where you are staying or meeting.
Scheduling and aircraft
Five and a half hours suits a super-midsize or heavy jet; the time difference is two hours. If Phuket or Krabi is the destination, flying there directly rather than through Bangkok saves real time. Bangkok is the gateway to choose when Bangkok itself is on the schedule. Conditions in the south change sharply between the wet and dry seasons, so timing is worth weighing.

- Yes. Both handle international arrivals, so you can fly nonstop from Seoul without routing through Bangkok. If Bangkok is not on your schedule, going direct is clearly faster.

- It depends on where you are based. Suvarnabhumi is better for anything east of the centre, Don Mueang for the north. If you are continuing to a southern resort, it is worth deciding with the connecting leg in mind.
